Fall Events: Bluebook Updates & Tabling

The Law Library was excited to offer instructional programs and events this semester. We extended the invitation for students to "Meet us at the Table" where we offered research assistance in the first floor lobby. This event was designed to give students an opportunity to connect with law librarians, ask questions, and learn about what services we provide. It was held on Wednesday, August 27 and September 3, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The Law Library held an informative session that covered all of the updates to the 22nd edition of the Bluebook that was published in June 2025 on Wednesday, September 17. This information was presented by our very own Reference Librarian and Legal Research Instructor, Nanette Collins. This session was held online via Zoom.

Feel free to contact us if you have ideas for additional services or would like to see a particular topic covered.

The Thurgood Marshall School of Law Library staff extends its sincerest congratulations every student who passed the July 2025 Bar exam and best wishes to those taking the Bar exam in February. We would like to send special compliments to our former Graduate Assistants and Research Assistants. As new attorneys and alumni of the Law School, you will continue to have access to the Law Library’s resources for a limited amount of time. Ask a librarian about which resources might be helpful to you. Also, please feel free to make suggestion to our library about how we can support our alumni.

The Library Welcomes Research Assistants

The Research Assistant Program will continue this fall under the direction of our Appointed Director and Faculty Research Librarian, Tara Long. The law library staff extends a warm welcome to our newest cohort of research assistants.

Throughout the school year, research assistants gain hands-on legal researching experience as they explore various legal topics.

Research assistants will be instructed on best research practices, work closely with multiple faculty members, and receive constructive feedback on their work. This program is designed to improve their research skills so they will be able to assist the faculty in their scholarship efforts better.

Through this significant experience, the research assistants will leave the program being more proficient legal researchers and writers, preparing them for success in future classwork, interviews, and jobs!
