Library User Guide: General Information

To inform patrons on the Law Library's user policies and procedures.

Welcome!

It is the mission of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law (TMSL) Library to promote excellence in academic achievement and the dissemination of legal information to the TMSL students, faculty, staff, and the community. The Law Library is committed to strengthening the academic and professional skills of the students and faculty by integrating technology while supporting the law school curriculum, programs, and organizations. Five professional librarians and four para-professional staff members are available to assist law library patrons. The library subscribes to electronic legal databases including Lexis and Westlaw. The library also participates in a statewide consortium called TexShare, which permits our patrons to borrow materials directly from other TexShare libraries. Resource sharing through Interlibrary Loan is also available. Finally, the library is a selective government depository. The Law Library welcomes all visitors to explore its resources and services.

Federal Depository Library Program

FDLP

The Thurgood Marshall School of Law Library was designated a United States Federal Depository on October 5, 1982. The Law Library receives only 13% of the total government publications available via the Government Printing Office (GPO) Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), but the documents collection is handsomely enhanced by its rich, sizeable non-depository government related collection.
